Dr Amanda Cockburn completed her Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry at the University of Waterloo, followed by a Master’s in Neuroscience at the University of Ottawa. She then earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the Université de Montréal. Her journey into veterinary medicine was driven by a passion for the bond between pets and their owners, a commitment to animal welfare, and a strong interest in healthcare.
Amanda's primary interests lie in animal behavior, internal medicine, and palliative care. She finds great joy in her work, particularly in seeing sick animals recover and leave the clinic healthy and happy, alongside their smiling owners. What she loves most about the clinic is the strong sense of team spirit and the laughter shared with her colleagues, as well as the high quality of medicine and the diverse range of services we offer thanks to the varied expertise within their team.
A fun fact about Amanda: during a project in the Northwest Territories, she was once chased by a buffalo! She claims you've never seen someone jump onto a four-wheeler and take off so quickly.
At home, Amanda is kept busy with her furry companions: three cats named Jack, Sparrow, and Banane, and a dog named Benny.
